About me
Mathew a. silva
Background
I was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, in a bilingual Portuguese-speaking household. Growing up between cultures gave me a broad perspective on life and a strong appreciation for diverse viewpoints. These experiences shaped both my personal and professional growth.
I graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management, concentrating in the Business of Fashion. Currently, I work full-time as an Analyst in New York City, where I focus on data analysis and process optimization.
Outside of my professional career, I’ve always had a passion for writing. While it remains a personal project, writing has allowed me to explore topics that resonate with me, such as mental health and societal issues. My first novel, The Truth Behind a Smile, was inspired by the need for a deeper conversation around toxic masculinity and men's mental health struggles in American society. After researching and refining the story, I chose to self-publish, with a portion of the proceeds supporting men's mental health initiatives.
Currently, I’m working on Shaded, a three-part dystopian series that explores the themes of societal change and personal identity. Writing is an important creative outlet for me, and it complements my analytical mindset, helping me develop skills that extend beyond my day-to-day work.
